BOULDER CITY, NEV. – The Embry-Riddle men's golf team got its Spring season off to a good start, playing great competition during the Las Vegas Shootout. The Eagles finished sixth in a field of 16, posting the best score among Cal Pac teams in the event.
Embry-Riddle had an excellent first round on Monday, finishing with the second-best team score at the midway point of day one. While the Eagles continued to play well, other teams found its strides on the course as well, and ERAU battled hard the rest of the tournament against top competition.
Trevor Lewis was the top individual finisher for the Eagles, as he place tied for 14th. Lewis was one-under during the first round and two-under in the second round, entering the final day -3. Lewis had the fifth-best par-5 average, and also knocked in an Eagle on his second hole of the tournament.
Tyler Macpherson tied for not only the best first round performance, but the best round performance of the entire event. Macpherson shot a 66 (-6) in the opening 18 holes, posting seven birdies and an Eagle, and also had a stretch of four consecutive holes in which he shot under par.
TJ Hicks had a consistent tournament as well, and got better as the tournament went on. Hicks shot a 73 in the second round and a 74 in the final 18 holes on Tuesday, plus put in ten birdies through the event.
Alexandre Lasalarie also had a great first round, posting a 71 (-1) to start the tournament. In the first round, Lasalarie had three Birdies along the way, and finished with nine Birdies in the event.
Jordan Garypie followed along with teammates when it came to a great first round, as he finished the opening 18 holes at even. Joseph Allen posted a good 76 (+4) in both the first and third rounds, and was able to get up four spots on the individual leaderboard in the final round.
The Eagles will not have play in a tournament next week, but will get back in action on Tuesday, March 7th when they play in the RMC Intercollegiate in Henderson, Nev.
