Kenton Schroter is in his fifth season as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University after joining the program in February 2022. A native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, Schroter has built a strong reputation as both a pitching coach and recruiter through successful stops at the junior college and NCAA Division II levels.
As a student-athlete, Schroter spent five years playing collegiate baseball. He began his career at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, helping the Apaches earn a third-place finish at the 2013 NJCAA World Series. Following a year of rehabilitation after UCL reconstruction surgery, he continued his playing career at Angelo State University, where he contributed to the Rams' appearance in the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship and a 2017 Super Regional. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State in 2018.
Schroter transitioned into coaching in the fall of 2018 as a graduate assistant at Angelo State. Serving as the Rams' pitching coach, he helped guide the program to a 46-12 overall record, a 22-2 Lone Star Conference mark, and a Super Regional appearance in 2019. The Rams opened the shortened 2020 season with a 19-3 record before competition was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his tenure, Angelo State pitchers compiled a 65-15 combined record, a 4.73 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 640 strikeouts. Schroter also completed his Master of Business Administration degree in 2020.
In 2021, Schroter returned to Cochise College as the Apaches' pitching coach. Working with an entirely freshman pitching staff, he helped develop a group that recorded 460 strikeouts in 379 innings while leading the team to a 28-24 record and an appearance in the ACCAC Division I Tournament.
Since arriving at Embry-Riddle, Schroter has helped guide the Eagles to postseason appearances in three of the program's five competitive seasons. In 2024, he played a key role in leading the Eagles to the California Pacific Conference Championship, securing the program's first-ever NAIA Opening Round appearance. Under Schroter's direction, the Eagles' pitching staff posted a 5.60 ERA over 413 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .275 batting average during the championship season.
Among his coaching accomplishments, Schroter was part of Angelo State's 2019 Lone Star Conference Coaching Staff of the Year, helped establish a program record with 46 wins in a season, and coached Trent Baker, who was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
Schroter, his wife Terri Leigh, and their son Jett reside in Prescott, Arizona.
