Eagles Dominate On Stat Sheet, But Tie On ScoreBoard

"Welcome Aboard" are the words that greet you from every mouth upon arriving at the CMA Soccer stadium. That is also the final words (until after the match) that the Keelhaulers would share showing any politeness or generosity as they proved to be stingy, relentless, resilient, and determined to ruin the night for the Eagles. Goalkeeper Brian Edmiston held the Eagles scoreless for 89:27 until Redshirt Senior Keldon Hatch struck a volley low and hard through a crowd from just inside the top of the box. The Eagles outshot the Keelhaulers 29-2 (15-2 SOG), but that wasn't the only one-sided statistic, as Embry-Riddle also had a 24-1 advantage from corner-kicks.

"I'm disappointed today as a competitor. We created far too many good chances, played some really attractive soccer, while dominating an opponent, but struggled to put away the final shot", was the summation from Head Coach Adam Pearce in response to Friday night's Cal-Pac Conference match. Redshirt junior Tristan Korras and Sophomore Isaac Sanchez both had six shots, while Brech, Pena, Murray, Holt, Winchell, Cleveland, and Hatch all recorded shots on the night. "I told the team at half-time to be persistent in our attack, but be patient enough to trust in their abilities and preparation as I knew we would score", added Coach Pearce.

Fighting the challenge of playing on the road in the ever-improving Cal-Pac Conference, Embry-Riddle showed they are tough to beat, but it was Cal-Maritime's effort on the night that demonstrated their perseverance and fortitude as they showed they have improved dramatically from the last season. Coach Pearce believes in his squad though. "I have great faith and confidence in this team and the individual players. The goals will come. These guys care too much about one another to let one night of frustration hold them back. We learn, we grow, we improve."

The travelling supporters can continue to see the resolve and commitment of the Eagles as they travel into the heart of the Napa Valley and continue Cal-Pac Conference play at Pacific Union College. The match is scheduled to kick off at 12:00pm on the PUC campus.
