ERAU, UAV Advance to Second Round of Playoffs

TORRANCE, Calif.- After both teams battled to a draw for the first 36 minutes of play, #6 seed Embry-Riddle's Grant Rowe found the back of the net off a double assist from David Bates and Nicholas Goldstein to start the Eagles on their way to a 3-0 win over #3 La Sierra in the opening round of the California Pacific Conference Men's Soccer championship at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif.

That's where things stood until Bates added some insurance near the 65-minute mark to put ERAU up 2-0 when converted a Lucas Vasconcelos pass into the game's second score. As he did in the first two Eagle scores, Bates figured in the game's final goal, assisting on Jacob Baker's tally in the 72nd minute.

The loss ends the Golden Eagles' season with a 12-7 overall mark.

ERAU, now 11-8 on the season, will now face #2 seed UC Merced in the second round on Thursday, Nov. 9 in the 1:00 p.m. matchup. That contest will be preceded by #4 Antelope Valley taking on defending champion and #1 seed Marymount California, which kicks off at 11:00 a.m. at El Camino College.

The Cal Pac championship game will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1:00 p.m. at El Camino College.
