Boise, ID - The Eagles started the season off with a hard fought loss today against Eastern Oregon University, losing 3-2 in double overtime.EOUgot on the board first with a solo tally in the opening 11 minutes of the game. They continued to build their lead in the first half when Fredy Rodriguez scored of of the assist by Mountaineers Julian Wells for the 2-0 lead.The Mountaineers kept the lead going into the second half but thatdidn't last long as The Eagles cameback on top in the 48th minute.
Senior Nick Goldstein scored on the assist by Daniel Nunez to cut EOU's lead to 2-1. Then connected with Lucas Vasconcelos12 minutes later for another goal to tie the game 2-2.
The Eagles had fourteen shots on goal in regulation, out shooting the Mountaineers 14-8 and 6-3 in overtime.
Embry-Riddle had a few good looks during overtime with shots in the second overtimeby David Bates, Simon Jensen and Grant Rowe but it was Eastern Oregon that landed their only shot of the period. Alex Gutierrez was able to connect on the assist from Alex Peregrinain the 107th minute to stuffhome the game-winning goal to walk out with the victory.
The Eagles drop to 0-1on the year while Lyndon State improves to 1-0overall.
