McElrath Knocks In The Game Winner against Sierra Nevada

TAHOE VISTA, Nev. – In their first outing since being dubbed the No. 8 team in the country the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer team (11-2, 6-0) came out firing but only managed to score one goal by Maggi McElrath (FR/Bend, Ore.) in their California Pacific Conference matchup with Sierra Nevada College (2-9-1, 1-4) winning 1-0.

ERAU was dominant to start the game as they were unleashing a barrage of shots on SNC's keeper. Riddle managed to accrue nine shots on goal in the first half alone and would end with 19 on frame. Ten different Eagles would end the match with at least one shot on goal. Unluckily for ERAU nothing would find the back of the net and the half ended 0-0.

Once again the second half was more of the same for ERAU as they could not find a way to get the ball across the end line. Twenty minutes into the half, substitute McElrath would come on and prove to be the missing link for the Eagles. Cal Pac leader in points, Riley Martinson (SO/Deer Park, Wash.) would play a through ball to McElrath who slotted it into the net for the Eagles only goal of the day.

In the end the score did not match the run of play but it did not matter as Riddle would come out on top with the 1-0 victory. ERAU will stay on the road as they head across the Sierra Nevadas into California to take on California State-Maritime (0-7, 0-5) on Saturday (10/13) at 11:00 a.m.
