RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – After a tough matchup on Wednesday night the (19) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (19-6, 9-0) came back strong and beat California Pacific Conference rival Marymount California University (5-12, 2-7) in straight sets, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18.
ERAU came out swinging as always but the first set proved to be a little more difficult than expected. It was a tight first set tied at 9-9 before the Eagles went on a 5-1 run which would be all that they needed to secure the first set.
While the first set was close the second was not. ERAU never trailed throughout and had a ten-point lead throughout the set.
In the third and final set the Eagles had to beak and claw their way to a victory, it was tied every step of the way until 12-12. That is when ERAU went on a nice little run which would give them more than enough room to close it out.
Riddle will travel along the coast to take on La Sierra University (11-10, 6-2) tomorrow (10/13) at 7:30 p.m. who have been playing very well as of late and this could be a potential conference championship preview.
