(17) Eagles lose to (1) Spring Arbor in potential playoff match

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – (17) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University women's soccer (5-2-0) lost their final game in Michigan to a strong (1) Spring Arbor University (5-0-1) on two early goals that proved to be too much to come back from.

In what the Eagles knew was going to be a tough matchup, the Cougars pounced early grabbing an early goal 12 minutes in to the first half. That goal by SAU was the first goal given up by ERAU in almost 300 minutes of game time. All streaks must come to an end and the three and a half match goalless streak did today. A shot by Holly Ross (SR/Oro Valley, Ariz.) was saved and on an immediate counter attack the Cougars found their second. The first half ended 2-0.

ERAU came out swinging in the second half trying to bring everyone forward in an attempt to get back into the match. While the Eagles swarmed the Cougars accepted the pressure and ultimately did enough to hold on to the 2-0 victory.

Even though the Eagles lost, they have a new week ahead of them as they take on the University of Antelope Valley at 5:00 p.m. in their first California Pacific Conference game this season on Thursday (9/20) at home.
