Martinson's Last Minute Goal Helps Eagles Tie UAV

LANCASTER, Calif. – Two overtimes were not enough to separate Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer and University of Antelope Valley as the pair of California Pacific Conference foes tied on Sunday afternoon.

UAV (9-3-1; 4-0-1 Cal Pac) controlled the run of play in the first half. The Pioneers outshot the Eagles (8-3-3; 5-0-1 Cal Pac) by two, Caitlyn Aaron (SR/Flower Mound, Texas) needed to make four saves in the half to keep it level at zero. ERAU was not able to manufacture a corner kick and only put one shot on frame.

The second half saw the most offense as both teams finally broke through each other's defense. UAV got on the board first after a ruthless attack forced the Eagles to play out of the back. ERAU struggled to get it going until late in the half. Riley Martinson (JR/Deer Park, Wash.) finally evened up the match with only a minute to play off Katy Hyde (FR/Denton, Texas)'s assist. Regulation ended knotted at one.

Both teams had a hard time getting shots up in the two overtimes. They combined for only three shots on goal in overtime. The defenses held on to keep it tied and the match ended the same way regulation did, tied.

The Eagles take on Cal-State Maritime this Friday at 5:00 pm MST at Varsity Field in Prescott.
