TORRANCE, Calif. – Their first California Pacific Conference match of the season is over and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) continued their dominance of the conference winning in straight sets over Marymount-California University and extending their conference-winning streak to 36 matches.
The Eagles (9-5, 1-0 Cal Pac) handled business from the get go, only trailing once in the match at 2-3 in the first set. The Eagles attacked at .212 and did not allow the Mariners a chance to breathe (3-7, 0-1 Cal Pac).
Caylee Robalin (JR/El Paso, Texas) led the Eagles in kills by powering home 12 and attacking at a .370 clip. Erin Clark (JR/Phoenix, Ariz.) was also a force scoring 13 points, 11 of which came on kills.
The Eagles all around match performance was in part due to Kat Yung (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.)'s ability to keep the ball alive. The sophomore led the match with 24 digs, a new career high in a three set match.
Audrey Baldwin (SR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) continued her 30+ assist streak, extending it to 10 straight matches. The setter now has 562 assists well on her way to breaking 1000+ yet again this season.
The Eagles will now travel to Riverside, California to take on rivals La Sierra University, the Golden Eagles are the last team to beat ERAU in Cal Pac conference or tournament play. The match will be at 8:00 pm MST tomorrow night.
