Mesa, Ariz. – It took over 103 minutes of soccer to determine a winner, but in the end the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer team prevailed, taking a 1-0 victory over Park-Gilbert in a California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) game. Sierra Vicente (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) notched the game-winner for the Eagles.

Embry-Riddle dominated the second matchup of the season between the two teams but could not buy a goal in regulation time. The Eagles totaled 29 shots in the first 90 minutes, 17 of which were on goal. In the first half EARU saw seven shots find the goal, including four by Kylee Bennett (SO/Pocatello, Idaho). It was the same story in the second 45 minutes, with the Eagles getting 10 shots on goal; with Katy Hyde (JR/Denton, Texas), Rae Yoshioka (FR/Pearl City, Hawaii), and Vicente each getting a pair. But each time the Park goalkeeper, Lizbeth Medina, made the save. The Embry-Riddle defense did its job, holding the Buccaneers without a shot.

After another scoreless 10 minutes from the first overtime, Embry-Riddle came close in the 103rd minute when Katelyn Kelch (FR/Tucson, Ariz.) hit the post. Just 30 seconds later Vicente finally got one in for the Eagles, her fourth of the season, to put it in the win column.
