Box Score Irvine, Calif. – Two late goals enable the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's soccer team to salvage a 2-2 tie in its California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) battle with Westcliff. Lucas Garcia (JR/Barcelona, Spain) scored as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime.
In a scoreless first have each team had just two shots that made it on goal. Embry-Riddle (6-1-1, 2-0-1 Cal Pac) had both of its shots on goal come from Djougher Oliveira (SR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil), while Elias Ammon (FR/Bremen, Germany) saved both shots he saw for the Eagles.
Westcliff (3-2-2, 1-0-1 Cal Pac) broke the deadlock just 44 seconds into the second half when Ammon saved a shot but could not control the rebound, which the Warriors converted on. In the 68th minute Westcliff struck again on a shot from the top right of the box. The Eagles came back and generated several scoring chances, including in the 77th minute when David Calle Ramos (JR/Madrid, Spain) hit the post. Ten minutes later Chiedu Ikeme (SR/Inverness, Scotland) broke through for the Eagles on a free kick from the left side. After a yellow card on Westcliff in the final seconds, Garcia scored to send the game into extra time.
Embry-Riddle could only generate two shots in the extra time, both in the first 10-minute period. Westcliff got three shots on goal in overtime, but Ammon turned them all away to preserve the tie.
