Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Earlier this season, the ERAU women's soccer team took its trip to Saint Katherine's, and found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 final. In a pivotal division matchup on Sunday, the Eagles were again on the losing end of a 2-1 score despite having a majority of the possession and chances.
The Firebirds trailed 1-0, but found an equalizing goal right before halftime, then scored its golden goal on a penalty kick in the 108' to take home the win. It is the first time since 2014 the Eagles have lost more than one game in conference play.
Rae Yoshioka scored the game's first goal when her corner kick in the 28' bounced off the goalkeeper's hands and across the goal line. While it was the final time the Eagles would score on Sunday, the team had plenty of chances, including a sequence in the second overtime where ERAU took three shots in under a minute but were ultimately turned away.
ERAU put plenty of shots toward the opponent, finishing with 23 on the day. The team was able to get ten of those shots on target, and earned themselves seven corner kicks.
Mackenzie Osther made three saves during the contest, keeping her team in the game by cutting down any Firebirds opportunities throughout the contest. The goal in the 42' ended Embry-Riddle's shutout streak at 547:41.
The Eagles will play two more games to wrap up the regular season, a pair of road games in Southern California. ERAU will travel to Lancaster to see University of Antelope Valley on Friday, then travel over to Riverside on Sunday to match up with La Sierra.
