Box Score Temecula, Calif. – After playing scoreless soccer for 76 minutes, the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's soccer picked up a goal from Chiedu Ikeme (SR/Inverness, Scotland) and made it stand up in a California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) game against Saint Katherine. The victory keeps ERAU undefeated in Cal Pac play.
Embry-Riddle (7-1-1, 3-0-1 Cal Pac) had the upper hand early, but a pair of shots by Paul Fulop (JR/Chicago, Ill.) were saved. In the middle portion of the half both Alex Reinert (SR/Frisco, Texas) and Djougher Oliveira (SR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had shots on goal, but those were also saved. In the Eagle's goal, Alastair Stark (SR/Sevenoaks, England) saved the only shot that he saw and the two teams went into the half still tied at 0-0.
The second half started the same way, with each goalie stopping every shot that came on goal. In a 10-minute stretch later in the half Embry-Riddle got off four shots on goal, with the final one finding the mark when Ikeme took a pass from Jacob Baker (SR/Graham, Wash.) and scored a goal for a second straight game to make it 1-0 in the 77th minute. That was all it took as the Eagle defense held the Saint Katherine (0-9, 0-3 Cal Pac) without a shot the rest of the way.
