Box Score Temecula, Calif. – A four-match win streak came to an end this afternoon for the No. 20 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer team when the Eagles could not come all the way back from a two-goal deficit in a 2-1 loss at Saint Katherine in California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play. Haley Harris (SO/Tucson, Ariz.) had the goal for ERAU.
Saint Katherine (6-4, 2-1 Cal Pac) got on the board early in this one, striking in the 10th minute for the early lead. Embry-Riddle (5-4-1, 3-1 Cal Pac) came back and got off five shots over the next 11 minutes. Three were on goal, including two by Ellie Neal (SO/Gilbert, Ariz.), but all were saved. After that the Eagles were held without a shot until the final minute of the half. The Firebirds put two more shots on goal in the half, but Mackenzie Osther (SR/San Diego, Calif.) saved both and it stayed a one-goal game.
Just a minute and a half into the final 45 minutes, Saint Katherine scored again, putting ERAU in a two-goal hole. Embry-Riddle came back and generated eight shots and had five corner kicks, but it was one of those days for the Eagles as none of the opportunities panned out. Embry-Riddle made it a one goal game in the 87th minute when a foul in the box gave the Eagles a penalty kick. Harris converted, but ERAU could not find the equalizer in the final minutes as Saint Katherine held on for the upset win.
