Box Score GLENDALE, ARIZ. – A day after a tough loss, the ERAU men's basketball team found a big lead of its own on Saturday, and rode a stellar first half to a 96-86 victory against SAGU American Indian College. The win gave the Eagles a split at the ACU Fultz Classic, the first of six neutral site games this season.
Five ERAU players scored in double digits, led by Connor Verdugo's 19. Connor Verdugo had most of his production during his 12 minutes in the second half, scoring 14 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Christmas Togiai, Jr. did most of his scoring in the first half, with 11 of his 16 points coming in the opening frame. He also had a game-high six assists and snagged six rebounds.
Trevor Weir had the team's first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Four of his boards were on the offensive end, and defensively added three steals.
It was an impressive first half showing for Embry-Riddle, as the team led 51-30 at halftime. The Eagles shot 52.6% from the field, and an incredible 64.7% (11-17) from three.
The Eagles find themselves on the road again next week, heading to California for its first of two non-conference road trips in the Golden State. ERAU plays both games in Lancaster, Calif., matching up with West Coast Baptist on November 4, then playing Bethesda the next night.
