Box Score SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. – The ERAU women's soccer season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as the Eagles lost its NAIA Opening Round matchup to (16)Westmont 2-1. Embry-Riddle scored first, but the Warriors managed a pair in the second half to move onto the next round.
Kylee Bennett notched ERAU's first goal in the 13' after a great free kick from Sierra Vicente to set up the score. The Eagles controlled the game for the first 15 minutes, including when Vicente hit the inside right post a couple minutes before setting up Bennett for the goal.
The Eagles took a one-goal lead into the half, and prepared for a Westmont push in the second half. The Warriors did not wait long to find an equalizer in the final 45, as Reece Davidson scored just 25 seconds into the half.
Westmont took the lead 33 minutes later, as Grace Duckens scored with 11:48 to go. ERAU made a good last push, but were unable to find the equalizer before time expired.
The Warriors had the advantage in shots on target, finishing the day 7-2 in that category. Eagle goalkeeper Mackenzie Osther made five saves, including a big one in the second half on a breakaway to keep the game tied.
