Santa Clarita, Calif. – A pair of second half goals were the difference for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's (Ariz.) men's soccer team as it opened the season with a 3-1 victory over The Master's University. Jacob Baker (SR/Graham, Wash.) had a goal and an assist for the Eagles.

Embry-Riddle (1-0) had the upper hand at the start of the game, getting off the first seven shots of the game over the opening 24 minutes. None found the mark, however, with closest coming when Paul Fulop (JR/Chicago, Ill.) hit the post in the 19th minute. ERAU finally found the mark when Baker notched the first goal of the season on a through ball at the 37:50 mark.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Embry-Riddle found the mark again when Stefano Recinos (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.) put one in after taking a pass from Baker. Ten minutes later The Master's (0-1) pulled within a goal when it scored off of a rebound, but it took just eight minutes for the Eagles to respond when they caught the Mustangs on a counter attack. Lucas Garcia (JR/Barcelona, Spain) got a ball to Chiedu Ikeme (SR/Inverness, Scotland) who finished for his first tally of the season.
