Embry-Riddle Blanks Benedictine-Mesa

Box Score

Mesa, Ariz. – For a second straight game the No. 22 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer team pitched a shutout in California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play as the Eagles picked up a 3-0 win on the road against Benedictine University at Mesa. Lauren Foster (SR/Chino Valley, Ariz.) scored the game winning goal for the Eagles.

Like they did on Friday night, Embry-Riddle (3-3-1, 2-0 Cal Pac) got off to a quick start. Less than two minutes in Kylee Bennett (SO/Pocatello, Idaho) got a ball to Foster, who put it in the back of the net for the quick 1-0 lead. Benedictine (1-4, 0-2 Cal Pac) did not get off a shot before ERAU scored again. This time it was Bennett who scored her second goal in as many games, putting one away off a pass from Aryanna Sanchez (SO/Tucson, Ariz.) at the 23:09 mark. The Eagle defense did the rest for the remainder of the half, allowing just one shot that was wide of the mark.

Embry-Riddle started fast again in the second half, with Foster and Bennett each getting shots on goal in the first three minutes, but both were saved by the BenU goalie to keep it a 2-0 game. In the 70th minute ERAU put a pair of shots on goal, with the second by Katelyn Kelch (FR/Tucson, Ariz.) finding the mark to make it 3-0. Again the defense did the rest, allowing just three shots. Mackenzie Osther (SR/San Diego, Calif.) stopped the pair that came on goal to secure the win for the Eagles.
