Box Score Great Falls, Mont. – For a second straight game a late goal for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's soccer team proved to be the difference as it scored its second straight, 1-0 victory, this time against Carroll College. Jarred Petersen (SR/Caldicot, England) netted the game winner for the Eagles in the 73rd minute.
In an evenly played first half neither team had a shot on goal until the 16th minute when Jacob Baker (SR/Graham, Wash.) got one on frame that was saved by the Carroll (0-2) keeper. That turned out to be the only shot on goal in the half for Embry-Riddle (4-0), which had six shots in the half to five for the Fighting Saints. Three of the Carroll shots were on goal, but Alastair Stark (SR/Sevenoaks, England) came up with stop each time to keep it a scoreless contest.
The opening 25 minutes of the second half was much of the same, with EARU getting off eight shots and Carroll coming up with three. Stark made one save in the span and his counterpart three as it remained a scoreless contest. A foul in the 73rd minute gave the Eagles another opportunity, and this time they cashed in when Djougher Oliveira (SR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) got the ball to Peterson who slid it home for his first goal of the season. The ERAU defense did the rest from there, holding the Fighting Saints to three shots the rest of the way, none of which were on goal.
