Box Score VALLEJO, CALIF. – Not only did the 17th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's soccer team shut out its 13th consecutive opponent on Thursday, but it also clinched its spot in the Cal Pac Tournament with a 10-0 victory over Cal Maritime. The Eagles piled up six goals in the first half, and did not let up as it put itself in a situation where the team can take the regular season championship on Saturday.
Aubrie Labno was named the Cal Pac Offensive Player of the Week just two weeks ago, and turned in another performance that could see the sophomore winning again come Monday. Labno scored three goals and added an assist to lead the way offensively for the Eagles.
Labno scored in the 32nd minute, and then struck again before halftime in the 43rd minute. Labno would finally pick up the hat trick in the 81st minute after a great pass from Kari Kasun.
Rae Yoshioka had the flipped linescore of Labno, posting three assists to go along with a goal. Yoshioka had assisted on the Eagles' second and third goals, then put up her last helper off yet another great corner kick that Labno scored on.
Yoshioka would eventually score in the 55th minute, this time with the assist from Kari Kasun. Kasun was a great distributor all night long, as she finished with three assists as well.
Scarlett Frohardt scored a pair as well, as she found the back of the net on two of her three shots on target. Frohardt posted her first goal in the 29th minute, then found the back of the net again in the 81st minute.
The defenders pitched in with the offense as well, Courtney Lohmeier scored her first of the season in the second half. The hardworking defender picked up her first of the year in the 89th minute, getting rewarded for an excellent effort all second half long.
The Eagles took a whopping 55 shots on Thursday, and were able to put 31 of those on target. The ERAU defense was so strong that they did not allow a shot, or a shot on goal, to extend the shutout streak to 1197:36.
Embry-Riddle will have an opportunity to clinch a first-round bye in the Cal Pac Tournament with a win over UC Merced on Saturday. Kickoff from Bobcat Field in Merced is scheduled for 11 a.m.
