Box Score MERCED, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team returned to Merced where its season ended last season, looking to capture a first-round bye in the Cal Pac Tournament on Saturday. While the Eagles had a great effort, a pair of goal late in the second half saw them drop its first conference game of the year.
The Bobcats scored the first goal of the game in the 69', and then struck again in the 76'. Merced's Kevin Capetillo scored both tallies, and the Eagles were not able to find an answer on the scoreboard.
Elias Ammon kept the Eagles in the game as long as he could, giving his team a chance to win with eight saves on the day. ERAU also had its three-game shutout streak snapped, as the squad had not allowed a goal since October 1. Embry-Riddle did fire three shots on goal themselves as they had a few chances to get on the board.
The Eagles will return home as the Cal Pac Tournament draws near. Embry-Riddle will host Westcliff on next Saturday, October 22nd for Senior Night, with kickoff from Varsity Field scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
