Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The hard work the Embry-Riddle women's soccer team put in this season all came to fruition on Saturday afternoon, as the team earned the Cal Pac Regular Season Championship with a 2-0 win over Westcliff. It is the fourth consecutive outright regular season championship, and is the sixth consecutive regular season championship the Eagles have gotten at least a share of.
The Eagles did not take long to get the scoring started, as senior Katy Hyde scored her first of the season just 1:45 into the match. She was assisted by another senior, Sierra Vicente, and the duo put ERAU on track toward clinching the regular season title on Saturday.
After continuing to fire away and have control of the match, the Eagles were able to add an insurance goal in the 86th minute. Rae Yoshioka scored her Cal Pac-leading 15th goal after an excellent feed from senior Kylee Bennett.
Embry-Riddle took 18 shots, getting 11 on goal, and really turned up the pressure in the second half. The Eagles had 13 of its shots, and seven of its shots on target, in the final 45 minutes.
ERAU also did an excellent job limiting Westcliff, allowing just five shot attempts and one on goal. Annabelle Ruckle did make an important save in the first half to keep the game tied, and earned her 12th win of the season.
While the Eagles do have postseason to look forward to, there is one more game to end the regular season. Embry-Riddle will play Benedictine-Mesa next Saturday night, with kickoff from Bell Bank Park in Gilbert, Ariz. scheduled for 7 p.m.
