Box Score MESA, ARIZ. – What was a relatively competitive first half turned into a dominating win for the Embry-Riddle men's soccer team, as the Eagles took away an 8-2 victory from Benedictine Mesa on Sunday evening. ERAU scored six goals in the second half to grab momentum as the team heads into postseason play.
Alex Frances had his second four-goal game of the season, posting another solid effort as he now has the second-most goals in the conference. Frances scored three of those goals in a 10:06 span in the second half as his tallies are what allowed ERAU to pull away in the final 45 minutes.
Outside of Frances, each of the other goals was scored by different Eagles. Djougher Oliveira continued his excellent final season with yet another tally, this time opening the scoring of the contest in the eighth minute.
Cameron Kovats scored to open the second half, giving ERAU the 3-1 lead in the 57th minute. Roei Nir scored one in the 85th minute, then Bryan Castellanos put one in right before time expired to post the eighth goal for the Eagles.
Embry-Riddle had the majority of the chances, as they had the shot advantage (20-3) and shot on target advantage (16-3). The Eagles also had double the amount of corner kicks, getting eight to the Redhawks' four.
Embry-Riddle will now have the week off before the Cal Pac Tournament, which is hosted by La Sierra University in Riverside, Calif. The Eagles will have to wait for the first round to conclude next week, as they will play either the fourth seed or fifth seed on Thursday, November 10.
