Box Score RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – A key component of the Embry-Riddle men's soccer team in 2022 is its ability to get out to fast starts, and Thursday night showed no different. The Eagles scored four goals in the first half, and pulled away from host La Sierra in the Cal Pac Tournament Semifinal.
The Eagles scored four goals in under a 14-minute stretch to build an early 4-1 lead. ERAU did score first, and avoided any big momentum shifts after the game was tied at 1-1 in the 21st minute.
Cal Pac Newcomer of the Year Alex Frances shined once again, picking up another hat trick, this time all of his goals coming in the first half. Frances has now scored two or more goals in five of the last six contests, and Thursday marked the second straight match with at least three goals.
Frances scored on all of his shots on target, going 3-3 to help ERAU build the 4-1 lead taken into halftime. Frances scored the games first goal in the 17th minute, then struck again in the 26th and 30th minutes.
David Ramos, the excellent defender who was named to the All-Cal Pac First Team, scored his first goal of the season with a beautiful header in the 24th minute. Riley Timko would also give the Eagles a little more insurance with a strike in the 56th minute.
Embry-Riddle will now move onto the Cal Pac Tournament Final, where they will look to avenge its only Cal Pac loss this season. The Eagles will take on UC Merced on Saturday night, with kickoff from Riverside scheduled for approximately 9:00 p.m. AZ Time.
