Strong Shooting Night Not Enough in Final Non-Con Contest

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team played its final non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday night, and fell 96-72 to OUAZ. The Eagles led seven minutes into the game, but a lengthy run to close the first half by the Spirit kept Embry-Riddle from retaking the lead the rest of the night.

ERAU shot the ball at a 50% clip on Wednesday night, better than OUAZ, but gave up more shots thanks to offensive rebounds and turnovers. The Eagles were excellent from the field in the second half, making 54.8% of its attempts.

Trevor Weir led the Eagles in scoring, getting 20 points on 10-14 shooting. He was also able to grab six rebounds, and dished out an assist in the post.

Christmas Togiai, Jr. scored 15 points on 50% shooting, and got 11 of those points in the second half. Togiai, Jr. also had three assists, two steals and a block during the night.

The Eagles will get back on the court Saturday when they have the return game against Park-Gilbert in Prescott. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
