Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Following an afternoon that soaked the Embry-Riddle campus, the men's soccer team was able to get its match underway with Arizona Christian only ten minutes after the originally scheduled kickoff. The Eagles rained upon the Firestorm, scoring four goals en route to a big 4-1 victory in its final non-conference game of the regular season.
The Eagles did not wait long to get on the board, as freshman Kristian Bielicki used a header to finish a beautiful feed from Cameron Kovats. It was Bielicki's first of his career, and it came just 9:08 into the contest.
Arizona Christian scored an equalizer in the 26th minute, but ERAU was able to regain a lead going into halftime. Josh McBeth finished another excellent feed into the 18' box, this time coming off the foot of fellow defender Ryan Doyle.
Embry-Riddle came out with a lot of energy in the second half, but were not able to break through until the 72nd minute. Alex Frances, who has used his pace and smarts on the field to score a goal off the bench, did it again after a great pass from Bielicki.
Frances would then get an assist on the final goal of the evening, as Paul Fulop scored his first of the season. Fulop had been an important part of the Eagle offense all season long, and finally got on the board in the 88th minute.
Daniele Cerbini made seven saves for his first career collegiate win. Each team had eight shots on goal, and the Eagles had the total shot advantage, 17-14.
The Eagles will begin Cal Pac play this Friday, September 16, when they host Pacific Union. Kickoff from Varsity Field is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
