Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team opened up its conference season on Friday, and had to play down to the wire to preserve a 3-2 win over Pacific Union. The Eagles had a two-goal lead for a good chunk of the contest, but a late push by the Pioneers made the game thrilling to the final seconds.
The Eagles were able to find its offense near the midway point of the first half, as they recorded a pair of goals in a 3:01 stretch. Alex Frances recorded the game's first goal at the 17:31 mark, then he, along with Djougher Oliveira, scored assisted on a Lucas Garcia goal in at 20:30.
Embry-Riddle shared the ball well, especially when they attacked. All three of the Eagle goals had a pair of assists to go along with it, and Oliveira led the way with two.
Lucas Garcia had a big night offensively, as he had a helper on the game's first goal to go along with his tally. Paul Fulop scored for the second consecutive game, as he scored in the 74th minute for what ultimately was the game-winning goal.
Pacific Union scored two goals in the second half, and nearly tied the game with its final push. The Pioneers scored in the 85th minute, and had a couple of pristine chances to find the equalizer.
Embry-Riddle will finally wrap up its six-game road trip on Sunday when they host Simpson for a Cal Pac afternoon clash. Kickoff from Varsity Field is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
