Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Following an unexpected day off on Friday, the Embry-Riddle volleyball team returned to campus to take Westcliff, the only team that was undefeated in Cal Pac play on Saturday. Despite a great effort, the Eagles ultimately fell in four sets in a highly-competitive weekend finale.
Embry-Riddle had an opportunity to take the first set, and even started the game on a 5-0 run. Eventually Westcliff fought back in, and took the opening game 26-24.
The Eagles needed to put together a comeback in the third set to avoid a sweep, as they took the game 27-25 after trailing 21-17. The 10-4 run to close it out saw Embry-Riddle's afternoon hang in the balance, as the Warriors had match point at 25-24, but ERAU took the final three points to continue playing.
ERAU had a decent day on the attacking end, as they finished with 59 kills and a .264 kill percentage. The Eagles had three players that had over 10+ kills, led by Emma Barber's 22.
Barber not only finished with 22 kills, but flashed a .378 hitting percentage to go along with it. She had just five hitting errors on the 45 attacks, and also had a hand in the defensive side with 12 digs.
Katie Rolle had another solid day in the setter position, finishing with 47 assists. Rolle was also able to add seven kills, eight digs, and a pair of block assists.
The Eagles will get back on the road again next week, as they head to Northern California for a trio of games. The road trip starts on Thursday, September 22 when the Embry-Riddle faces off with Simpson.
