Box Score CARLSBAD, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team had an explosive offensive night on Saturday, as the Eagles scored seven goals on its way to a 7-3 victory over Saint Katherine. The Eagles scored five of those goals in the first half, and pulled away with a pair of goals when the game got close again in the second half.
After conceding the first goal of the contest in the 17th minute, the Eagles scored three goals in a 7:09 span to take a lead. Lucas Garcia got Embry-Riddle on the board at the 22:29 mark, picking up his second of the road trip. Garcia would later score in the 44th minute, making it his fourth tally in the last four games.
In the 25th minute, Alex Frances scored to give Embry-Riddle the lead for the first time on the night, and the Eagles did not look back. Djougher Oliveira assisted on Frances's goal, and then scored one of his own in the 30th minute to stretch the lead to two.
Saint Katherine fought back with a pair of goals less than two minutes apart in the second half, and the Eagles were able to get a couple more goals to regain a comfortable lead. Nicco Rudisill scored in the 79th minute, then Paul Fulop scored the seventh goal for ERAU in the 87th minute off a great feed from Yoav Rapoport.
Embry-Riddle had its chances all game long, as they took 25 shots, and 13 shots on goal. Lucas Marin made a pair of saves for his first win of the season.
The Eagles will get back home next week with a pair of contests as conference play rolls on. Embry-Riddle will start with La Sierra on Thursday, September 30, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
