Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – A 19-game home win streak came to an end for Embry-Riddle on Sunday afternoon, as the Eagles dropped a 4-1 decision to Southern Oregon. ERAU put together a valiant effort in the second half despite competing with just 10 players, but its comeback efforts fell short.
The Eagles trailed 2-0 heading into the break, but came out with plenty of energy to begin the final half. Bryan Castellanos scored in the 49th minute, and nearly had another one a few minutes later. The subs for Embry-Riddle gave the team much-needed energy to make it a contest in the last 45 minutes.
Eventually Southern Oregon added a pair of goals late, striking in the 66th and 76th minutes. Embry-Riddle had four shots in each half, and fired three on target. ERAU had opportunities, especially early in the first half, getting three corner kicks during the opening frame.
Embry-Riddle will get back on the field in nine days, getting a much-needed recharge before conference season starts. The Eagles do have one more game before its first Cal Pac match, as they will host Arizona Christian on Tuesday, August 13, with kickoff from Varsity Field scheduled for 7 p.m.
