PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team had a tough end to December, losing its last four games heading into the new year. On Tuesday, the Eagles showed their normal selves, as they controlled its contest from start to finish with Park-Gilbert in a 68-52 victory.

The Eagles just got better as the game went on, and never allowed the Buccaneers to lead once in the return to Cal Pac play. Embry-Riddle's largest lead was at 18, before a layup in the dying seconds had the game's final score at a 16-point separation.

ERAU was excellent shooting from the floor in the second half, posting a 47.8% clip and making four of its nine three-point attempts. On the game, the Eagles shot 40%, and also knocked down nine three-point attempts.

Defensively, the Eagles held Park-Gilbert to matching 10-33 (30.3%) clips in each half. The Eagles had six blocks, seven steals and pulled in 37 defensive rebounds as a team.

Conner Verdugo had a very productive night, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double. Conner Verdugo also had five assists and two steals in the winning effort.

Chase Verdugo has been an excellent piece coming off the bench for ERAU, and Tuesday night was no different. Chase Verdugo scored a game-high 18 points, shooting 54.5% and hitting four three-point attempts.

Christmas Togiai, Jr. poured in 16 points, shooting 5-9 and also knocking down six free throws. Dennis Pomazanov was a point and rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and nine boards to go along with three assists, two blocks and two steals.

Embry-Riddle will get back on the court looking to get back over .500 in conference play on Friday against Pacific Union. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
