Eagles Sweep for Second Night in a Row

Box Score

Prescott, Ariz.-  For the second day in a row, Embry-Riddle won by a sweep as they beat the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University 3-0 today in the Eagle Gym.

Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) continued her strong season as she scored the first point of the match with a kill.  The Eagles jumped out to an early 4-1 lead as Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) and Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) added in kills however La Sierra fought back and tied the set at 5-5.  The teams then traded points and the Golden Eagles held a lead at 12-9 over ERAU.  After an Eagle error made the score 13-10 in favor of La Sierra, Embry-Riddle scored the next seven points as Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) had two kills during the run, Clear had one, and Alexis Creager (Berthoud, Colo.) added two service aces.  ERAU went on to win the set 25-23.

In the second set, it was La Sierra who would score first as they took the 2-0 lead before an Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) kill tied the score at 3-3.  The teams were tied a seven a piece before Hansen added another kill and Haase had two back to back to make it 12-8 ERAU and force the Golden Eagles to call a timeout.  Coming out of the timeout, La Sierra scored one point before Embry-Riddle scored the next four as Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.) had a kill to give the Eagles a 16-9 lead.   Hailey Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii) had two service aces at the end of the set as ERAU won 25-17.

Embry-Riddle got out to a large lead to start the third set and they never looked back.  Back to back blocks by Rodriguez and Haase put ERAU up 6-1 and then Rolle had another kill before La Sierra scored another point to make it 7-2.  Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.) had an ace to make the score 10-2 for the Eagles.  Hansen continued her strong offensive night as she had two more kills as ERAU went on to win the set 25-10 and close out the match 3-0.

Hansen had seven kills with zero errors in the match, as Haase had 10 kills, and Clear added seven more for Embry-Riddle.  On the defensive side, Haase had two solo blocks and five block assists and Figgins had nine digs.  Rolle finished the night with 27 assists, three kills, two service aces, and two block assists.
