Box Score Riverside, Calif. - Embry-Riddle fired off 29 shots as they went on to beat the Golden Eagles of La Sierra 2-1 today.
ERAU had some early chances, but were unable to find the back of the net in the first couple minutes. LSU then had a chance but the Eagle goalkeeper Annabelle Ruckle (Phoenix, Ariz.) made the save to keep the game at 0-0. In the 40th minute, Embry-Riddle finally scored a goal as Ellie Neal (Gilbert, Ariz.) headed in a corner kick from Rae Yoshioka (Pearl City, Hawaii). At halftime Embry-Riddle led 1-0.
As the teams came back out for the second half, ERAU had quite a few more chances as Yoshioka hit the post and the LSU goalkeeper made a great save on a Jamie Brandon (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot. The Eagles held the 1-0 lead until Alyssa Felix scored for La Sierra in the 80th minute. In the final ten minutes of the game, Embry-Riddle took four shots before Kylee Bennett (Pocatello, Idaho) scored her third goal of the season to give the Eagles the 2-1 win.
ERAU returns home to play Soka University on Saturday at 1pm on Varsity Field. Embry-Riddle will celebrate their eight seniors with the ceremony beginning at 11AM.
