Box Score On a beautiful fall night in Prescott, Embry-Riddle scored three goals on their way to beating Benedictine Mesa 3-0 as they moved to 7-0-1 in Cal Pac play.
In the first 45 minutes of play, neither team could find the back of the net as the Eagles took 11 shots and the Red Hawks 5. ERAU held most the possession as they forced the BenU Mesa goalkeeper to make five saves. Embry-Riddle's best opportunity in the first 45 minutes came when Paytn Barnette (Ridgefield, Wash.) collected the ball at the top of the box and fired a shot on frame that the goalkeeper pushed out at the last second for an Eagle corner kick. Annabelle Ruckle (Phoenix, Ariz.) made a great save as she tipped the ball off the crossbar to keep the score tied 0-0 as the teams headed into halftime.
Just 25 seconds into the second half, Jamie Black (Tucson, Ariz.) collected a loose ball after a Red Hawk defender slipped as pushed it past the keeper to give ERAU a 1-0 lead. From then on the Eagles looked more comfortable as Rae Yoshioka (Pearl City, Hawaii) doubled the lead in the 72nd minute as she finished off a pass from Sophia Bohon (Phoenix, Ariz.). In the 88th minute of play, Kari Kasun (Prescott, Ariz.) collected the ball on the right side line, beat her defender, and got to the end line where she played a ball into Adelie Zechmann (Chandler, Ariz.). Zechmann one-timed it into the net and rounded out the scoring for the Eagles as they won 3-0.
Earning the clean sheet in the goal was Ruckle as she had four saves on the night.
Embry-Riddle plays again next on Sunday as they travel to Riverside, Calif. where they will play the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University. Kick-off is set for 10AM.
