Box Score Embry-Riddle and OUAZ played to a 2-2 tie on Saturday afternoon in Prescott, Ariz. in the second round of the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament. The Spirit advanced to the third round after they took the kicks from the spot 5-4.
OUAZ got on top in the 14th minute as they converted on a corner kick. The Spirit took the corner which the Eagles were able to clear at first. As ERAU stepped out of the box, OUAZ put the ball back in and off the crossbar and Alyce Hancock followed up the shot to put them ahead 1-0. Embry-Riddle outshot the Spirit in the first half 7-3 but were unable to find the back of the net.
In the final 45 minutes, OUAZ took a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute. However just when ERAU thought they were done Aubrie Labno (Anthem, Ariz.) headed in a cross from Rae Yoshioka (Pearl City, Hawaii) to make the score 2-1 in the 86th minute. The Spirit tried to hold the ball in the corner but the Eagles were able to kick if off of them for a goal kick. Goalkeeper Annabelle Ruckle (Phoenix, Ariz.) sent the ball long to Labno who was fouled on the right side of the field. Yoshioka sent in a cross this time to Haley Harris (Tucson, Ariz.) who headed it in with just 7 seconds remaining in the game.
Neither team was able to score in overtime which resulted in the game going to penalty kicks. OUAZ came out on top as they made all five kicks and will move on in the NAIA National Tournament.
