Box Score Embry-Riddle scored a season high 83 points on Tuesday evening but it wasn't enough as Dordt University from Iowa won 101-83.
Dennis Pomazanov (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) scored 15 first half points as he shot 7-10 in the first twenty minutes. The teams traded baskets to start the game, but then Dordt used an 8-0 run as they took a 15-10 lead. Jake Klingler (Gilbert, Ariz.) scored back to back layups for ERAU to bring the score to 18-14 with 14:29 to go in the half. The Defenders once again scored the next 8 points before Demari Hackett (Surprise, Ariz.) made a three point shot to bring the Eagles within seven. Dordt led by as many as 18 in the first half and at halftime the score was 53-40 in favor of the Defenders.
Dordt came out shooting in the second half as they extended their lead to 21 points before Zack Moritz (Ontario, Calif.) made a three point basket. The Defenders led by as many as 34, but ERAU kept battling. Brett Bush (Nicholasville, Kentucky) made back to back layups for the Eagles in the middle of the half and then Christmas Togiai, Jr. (Kapolei, Hawaii) scored eight points in a row.
Pomazanov scored a game high 23 points and added eight rebounds for Embry-Riddle. Togiai, Jr. added 20 and Moritz scored 13 and had four assists.
Embry-Riddle will be off until December 30th when they head to Phoenix to play SAGU at 7pm.
