BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Embry-Riddle, the only women's golf champion the conference has ever crowned, once again dominated the field at the California Pacific Conference Women's Golf Championship on the Desert Hawk Coyote Run at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., and coasted to its ninth consecutive Cal Pac title. The Eagles, ranked No. 23 in the NAIA, opened with a huge
Sophomore Libby Axen (Tucson, Ariz.) fired a 74 in the first round of the tournament, maintained a one-stroke lead after two rounds, and carded a 72 in the final round to secure top honors in the championship. Junior Maisy Alsen (Gilbert, Ariz.), the only golfer to record three rounds in the 70s, came in second, four strokes off the lead. Junior Hailey Stevenson (Las Vegas, Nev.) caught fire over the final 18 holes, posting a 69 and moved into third place on the leaderboard. The final two in the top five were sophomore Kaetlin Halseth (Kingwood, Texas) and senior Hannah Spiller (Thatcher, Ariz.).
The field of 24 golfers had to deal with a tough 5.894-yard course as well as some challenging gusts of wind, which affected scores. Stevenson's impressive 3-under 69 on the final day was the only sub-par round recorded, and Axen closed out the tournament with an even 72. In total, there were only nine rounds completed in under 80 strokes—all by the top four Eagle golfers.
Alsen led the tournament with 35 pars in her three rounds, with Axen recording 33 of her own to go along with eight birdies. Stevenson, who had six birdies, also registered the only eagle in the tournament.
Alsen, Stevenson, and Halseth all repeated as All-Cal Pac golfers from last season, and Spiller earned her second all-conference spot, having been there in 2021. Stevenson, the Player of the Year in 2021, earned All-America Third Team honors in 2022.
