Box Score Glendale, Ariz.- After falling down one set to none, Embry-Riddle took the next three sets as the Eagles beat Arizona Christian 3-1 tonight at the Firestorm Recreation Center.
In the first set of the night, Embry-Riddle got out early to an 8-2 lead, however Arizona Christian used an 8-1 to take a 10-9 lead in the set. ACU used their momentum to go on and win the first set 25-21 over the Eagles.
No team was more than three points ahead at any point in the second set as the score was tied 12 times throughout. ERAU got a timely kill by Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif) and a block from Hansen and Maliah Juker (Ventura, Calif.) to close out the set 25-23.
Embry-Riddle was off to a quick start again in set three as the Eagles went up 6-2. The Firestorm were able to make the set close as they made a run at the end to make the set 23-22 as the Eagles held a one point advantage late. A block by Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished the set for ERAU with the same score as the second, 25-23, and put Embry-Riddle up 2-1 in the match.
The final set of the night was all Embry-Riddle. The Eagles got out to a 12-4 lead as they hit .385 early to take the 8 point lead. Embry-Riddle was able to win the set 25-18.
Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) led ERAU with 13 kills as she hit .485 in the match. Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) and Hansen each added 10 kills of their own for Embry-Riddle. Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.) had 40 assists for the Eagles andLily Figgins (St. Charles, MO.) led the team with 22 digs.
Embry-Riddle plays again tomorrow at the Firestorm Labor Day Invitational as they take on Justice College at 3pm.
