Box Score Prescott, Ariz. - #9 Embry-Riddle Women's Soccer and #2 Marian University battled to a 2-2 tie late on Saturday night. After waiting two hours past scheduled kickoff time due to lightning in the area, the Eagles and Knights gave the fans what they waited for.
After a scoreless first half, Marian struck first as they scored a goal in the 59th minute, but ERAU would not go away quietly. In the 66th minute Jamie Black (Tucson, Ariz.) took a pass from Haley Matthews (Phoenix, Ariz.) and was able to turn and shoot to the lower left corner to tie the score 1-1. The Knights scored again in the 82nd minute off a great cross, but again Embry-Riddle battled back. In the 87th minute, Aryanna Sanchez (Tucson, Ariz.) played a ball forward to Kylee Bennett (Pocatello, Idaho). Bennett used her space and took a shot that found the far corner of the net and tie the game 2-2.
In goal for the Eagles was Annabelle Ruckle (Phoenix, Ariz.) who had 6 saves on the night.
Embry-Riddle begins Cal Pac play on Thursday as they head to California where they will play Westcliff on Thursday night at the Great OC Park.
