Box Score Embry-Riddle and Benedictine Mesa traded sets until the Red hawks were able to pull away with the 5th set with a 20-18 win.
In the first set, ERAU got out to an 8-1 lead thanks to three service aces by Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.). The second set was tight all the way as the largest lead for both teams was four points throughout. The Embry-Riddle attack struggled in the set as they only had nine kills. Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) led ERAU with a pair as the Eagles dropped the set 25-21 and the matched evened to one set a piece.
Much like the second set, the third was back and forth until Embry-Riddle went on a 5-1 run to take a 15-10 lead on a kill by Rodriguez. ERAU seemed to find their rhythm again as they had 15 kills and only two errors as they hit .464 in the set. Hie Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii) had a service ace in the set that gave the Eagles a 19-13 lead. The closest the Red Hawks were after that was five points as Hansen and Haase had kills to put the set away as the Embry-Riddle won 25-17.
Embry-Riddle went down 2-0 to start the fourth set but Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) had back to back kills and Haase had another as ERAU took an early 3-2 lead. BenU then went on a run of their own as they scored five unanswered points, but the Eagles continued to play tough as they tied the score at 12-12. After Embry-Riddle tied it up, the Red Hawks used another five point run to pull away and they ultimately won the set 25-20 and tie the match at 2-2.
Volleyball fans got what they paid for tonight as the fifth set went to extra points as Benedictine Mesa won 20-18. Neither team was able to get to far ahead as the score was tied 11 times in the final set. Haase continued to be dangerous as she had 7 of the Embry-Riddle kills in the set and Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) added five as well.
