Box Score Aubrie Labno (Anthem, Ariz.) scored the lone goal for Embry-Riddle today as they beat the Pioneers of Pacific Union 1-0 in Northern California.
Although the Eagles only scored one goal, they created numerous chances throughout the game. In the first half, ERAU took 5 shots, four of which were on goal and the other hit the cross bar.
In the 25th minute, Ellie Neal (Gilbert, Ariz.) took a shot from just around midfield that clanked off the cross bar. One of the Eagles was there to follow it up and put the ball in the back of the net, but they were called offside.
Rae Yoshioka (Pearl City, Hawaii) lined up to take a free kick in the 38th minute from just outside the penalty area. Her shot hit off the cross bar, but Labno followed it up and gave Embry-Riddle the 1-0 lead.
The second half was much like the first as the Eagles tried to get things going offensively, but didn't challenge the goalkeeper for PUC too hard. Grace Martinson (Deer Park, Wash.) had the best opportunity for Embry-Riddle as she got her head on a cross from Neal, but she was unable to convert as that shot too hit the cross bar.
In goal for ERAU, Annabelle Ruckle (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Lucy Hayward (Torrance, Calif.) combined for the shut out.
Embry-Riddle will travel up to Redding next as they play Simpson University on Saturday at 12pm.
