Box Score Riley Timko (Ellensburg, Wash.) scored his first goal of the season in the 82nd minute to give the Eagles a 2-1 win over Simpson University in Redding today.
The first half was back and forth as Simpson ended the half with four shots and ERAU with 2. Simpson took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Michel Hampe in the 33rd minute as they led 1-0 after the first 45 minutes.
Embry-Riddle came out with energy in the second half as they took six shots and the defense held strong only allowing two shots by the Red Hawks. In the 51st minute, Lucas Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) headed the ball across the goal and it found the foot of Paul Fulop (Chicago, Ill.). Fulop beat the goalkeeper and tied the score at 1-1. In the 82nd minute, Roei Nir (Tel Aviv, Israel) played a cross in that TImko got his head to and he tucked it into the left corner of the goal to put Embry-Riddle up 2-1.
Due to lightning in the area, the game was stopped in the 88th minute.
Embry-Riddle plays again on Saturday when the Red Hawks of Benedictine University come to Prescott. Kick-off is set for 7:30pm.
