Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Eagles Finish Weekend 3-0

Embry-Riddle dominated, leading from start to finish in their three game sweep of Webber International to finish their time in New Orleans 3-0.  ERAU led in every statistical category as they won the sets 25-16, 25-14 and 25-18.

The Eagles got out to a lead early as Anela Chew (Pearl City, Hawaii) started the game with a kill.  Embry-Riddle used a 6-2 run as they quickly led 7-2 over the Warriors.  Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) and Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) kept the offense going with kills to make the score 12-4.  Webber International was able to get back within five points with the score 18-13, but a service ace by Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.) put the Eagles back on track as
ERAU closed out set one on a 7-3 run and won 25-16.

In the second set, Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) started things for ERAU with two quick kills to once again give Embry-Riddle an early lead.  The Warriors tied the score up at 5-5 but the Eagles used a 5-1 run to create some separation.  Webber International continued to battle however and got back within three points with the score 10-7.  After a timeout by the Warriors, the scored the next two points but the ERAU offense proved to be too much as the Eagles stretched the lead to 21-11.  During the run, Figgins had two more aces, Haase and Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.) combined for a block, and Brooke Eglinton (Honolulu, Hawaii) added two kills.  Embry-Riddle won the set 25-14.

The final set was close until the end as the Warriors and Eagles battled.  The score was tied four different times and there were two lead changes.  Webber International led 6-4, but ERAU was able to tie it at 6-6 on a kill by Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) and never trailed again.  The score of the last set was 25-18.

As a team, the Eagles hit .364 during the match with 41 kills.  Barber led with 14 kills followed by Haase with nine.  Rolle finished the match with 35 assists.  Defensively, Haase led with four total blocks and Figgins had 14 digs and three service aces.

Embry-Riddle will play in the OUAZ Tournament next which takes place on Friday, August 30th in Surprise.  ERAU will play Carroll College at 12:00pm followed by Montana Western at 3:00pm.
