Embry-Riddle earned their second Great Southwest Athletic Conference win with a 2-1 win over the Arizona Christian Firestorm on Saturday evening.
Nitai Bental (Shoham, Israel) opened the scoring early in the match at 4:47, netting a goal with an assist from Luke Thomas (Wauwatosa, Wisc.). The home team continued to apply pressure, and their efforts paid off again when Thomas scored at 27:16, extending the lead to 2-0.
Arizona Christian, however, refused to back down. They found their footing and managed to pull one back just before halftime. Aiden Abbitt converted a penalty kick at 36:15, bringing the score to 2-1 and giving Arizona a glimmer of hope.
The second half saw both teams intensifying their efforts. Arizona Christian pushed forward, seeking an equalizer, but Embry-Riddle's defense held strong. The visitors had several opportunities, including shots from Marcus Mora and Edwin Meza, but they were thwarted by Embry-Riddle's goalkeeper, Elias Ammon (Bremen, Germany), who made crucial saves.
Embry-Riddle maintained their composure, and the Eagles earned the 2-1 victory.
ERAU will travel to Park Gilbert on Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 8pm.
