Eagles Upset #13 Ranked Firestorm

Embry-Riddle showcased their resilience and determination in a thrilling 66-58 victory over the Arizona Christian Firestorm on Thursday evening at the Activity Center. The Eagles, who trailed for much of the game, mounted a spectacular fourth-quarter comeback to secure the win.

First Half Struggles

The game began with a tightly contested first quarter, with both teams exchanging leads. Arizona Christian edged out a 17-15 lead by the end of the first period. The second quarter saw the Firestorm extend their lead, outscoring the Eagles 12-10 to take a 29-27 advantage into halftime. Embry-Riddle struggled with their shooting, hitting only 28.4% from the field in the first half.

Third Quarter Battle

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams fighting for control. Arizona Christian managed to maintain their lead, ending the quarter with a 45-41 advantage. Despite their efforts, the Eagles couldn't quite close the gap, but they remained within striking distance.

Fourth Quarter Comeback

The final quarter was where the Eagles truly shined. Embry-Riddle outscored Arizona Christian 25-13 in the fourth quarter, showcasing their defensive prowess and clutch shooting. Key plays from Jordyn Smith and Kate McBride helped the Eagles take the lead and hold onto it. Smith finished with 15 points and 3 rebounds, while McBride contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, earning a double-double.

Team Effort

The Eagles' victory was a true team effort, with significant contributions from multiple players. Micaela Hidalgo added 8 points and 8 rebounds, while Riley Morris-Rexford chipped in with 8 points and 8 rebounds. The bench also played a crucial role, scoring 37 of the team's 66 points.

Embry-Riddle will be back in the Activity Center on Saturday against OUAZ with tip-off at 2pm.
