Embry-Riddle mounted a come back but came up short against Eastern Oregon on Saturday evening at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center falling 60–53.
Despite trailing early, the Eagles clawed their way back into the game with a strong third-quarter performance, outscoring the Mountaineers 18–19 and narrowing the deficit to just one point at one stage. Abby Dean led the way offensively for Embry-Riddle, scoring a team-high 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including a clutch three-pointer in the third quarter that gave the Eagles their largest lead of the night at five points.
Katie McBride added 10 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Jordyn Smith contributed seven points and six boards. The Eagles dominated the paint with 26 points inside, and their bench chipped in 11 points, showcasing depth and hustle throughout the contest.
Embry-Riddle struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 16.7% (2-of-12) from three-point range, and free throw shooting proved costly, converting only 53.8% (7-of-13) from the line. Turnovers also hampered the Eagles, who committed 22 giveaways, leading to 20 points for Eastern Oregon.
Defensively, the Eagles held Eastern Oregon to 29.5% shooting from the field, but the Mountaineers capitalized at the charity stripe, hitting 17-of-22 free throws (77.3%), including key makes in the final minutes to seal the win.
