Embry-Riddle women's basketball pushed Arizona Christian to the brink Saturday evening at the Activity Center, falling 81-78 in an overtime thriller. The Eagles showcased resilience and grit, erasing multiple deficits and forcing extra time before the Firestorm escaped with the narrow win.

How It Happened

Embry-Riddle started slow offensively, trailing 16-12 after the first quarter despite early three-pointers from Maggie Spencer and Addison Neal. The Eagles found their rhythm in the second frame, with Shaylynn De Yager providing a spark off the bench and Emily Till attacking inside, trimming the halftime margin to 36-30.

The Eagles dominated the third quarter, outscoring ACU 22-16 thanks to clutch shooting from Makenzie Alapai and energy off the bench from Kapomaika'i Nakakura, taking a 52-50 lead into the fourth.

The final period was a back-and-forth battle. Bella Barrett and Katie McBride controlled the paint while Jordyn Smith added key boards, but ACU tied the game at 65-65 to force overtime. In the extra session, ERAU surged ahead 77-70 after buckets from Barrett and Alapai, but late turnovers and missed free throws allowed ACU to escape with the win.
