Embry-Riddle battled hard but ultimately fell to Southeastern, 104-77, at The Furnace on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles came out firing in the first half, but a second-half surge by the Fire proved too much to overcome.
Fast Start for the Eagles
Embry-Riddle traded blows early and even grabbed a brief lead midway through the first half behind the hot hand of Jacey Canalin, who poured in 23 points before halftime. Canalin finished with a game-high 27 points, shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 10-for-12 at the free-throw line. His three triples in the opening period helped the Eagles stay within striking distance, trailing just 57-47 at the break.
Second-Half Struggles
The Fire's depth and efficiency took over after halftime. Southeastern shot an impressive 58.2% from the floor and knocked down 50% of their threes, while Embry-Riddle cooled off to 36.4% shooting in the second half. Despite strong efforts from Matur Dhal (12 points, 7 rebounds) and Isaiah Wong (9 points), the Eagles couldn't keep pace as Southeastern extended its lead to as many as 29 late in the game.
