Embry-Riddle battled hard but came up short against Carroll College (MT), dropping a 84–70 decision Thursday afternoon at Chandler-Gilbert CC.
The Eagles started strong, trading baskets early and even holding a brief lead midway through the first half. Peter Dress anchored the inside game with a double-double performance, scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, while Noah Gifft added 11 points and six boards. Jacey Canalin chipped in nine points and three assists, and Lex Clontz provided a spark off the bench with two second-half threes.
Embry-Riddle dominated the glass, outrebounding Carroll 34–23, and scored 34 points in the paint compared to Carroll's 26. The Eagles also got 23 points from the bench, showing depth and resilience. However, cold shooting from beyond the arc (just 4-for-21, 19%) and Carroll's hot hand from deep (15-for-23, 65%) proved decisive.
Carroll's Isaac Round led all scorers with 25 points, including seven three-pointers, while Isaiah Crane added 17 points. The Fighting Saints shot an impressive 58.8% from the field and never let the Eagles close the gap in the second half after building a 45–37 halftime lead.
Embry-Riddle will finish out the 2025 half of their season with their second game at the Cactus Classic on Friday at 3pm against Westcliff at Chandler-Gilbert CC.
